NSEE Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship

NSEE Commitment to Diversity

The National Society for Experiential Education is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its membership and program offerings. Our vision is to expand the perspectives shared and voices heard throughout our growing profession. We wish to improve access to premier professional development and increase involvement of diverse experiential educators in NSEE’s committees, initiatives, and leadership opportunities. 

NSEE Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship

We are launching the NSEE Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship to support this vision. The Scholarship includes one year of membership, one complimentary conference registration with a $500 stipend to support travel to the conference. 

Applications will be available each spring. 

Who is Eligible? Individuals who:

  • are from groups currently underrepresented within NSEE, including, but not limited to: African-American/Black, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, Native American, LGBTQ+, Veterans, People with disabilities.
  • currently working in the field of experiential education.
  • have not attended the NSEE National Conference in the last 5 years. 

What does the Scholarship provide?

  • A year of NSEE membership.
  • A complimentary registration to the Annual Conference
  • A $500 stipend for lodging or travel to that conference
  • A mentor from the NSEE leadership 

How to Apply?

  • Resume, maximum 2 pages, which includes full contact info (address, phone, e-mail), educational background and related work history.
  • Cover Letter, maximum 1 page, describing your interest in experiential education and what you hope to gain from involvement with NSEE.
  • Recommendation letter (maximum 1 page) from your department head / supervisor.

When to Apply: Deadline is June 1, 2018 

  • The NSEE Awards Committee will make the selections and notify recipients. 

What Else:

  • Recipient must submit receipts for reimbursement within 1 week after the conference.
  • Recipient is required to submit a short article (no more than 300 words) about their conference experience for the NSEE Newsletter.
